Title:
PRODUCTION OF TAPE-SHAPED OPTICAL FIBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5950405
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To arrange a desired number of optical fibers in parallel easily without friction, by making winding angles of optical fibers to a rotating roll different successively from one end side of the roll and deflecting optical fibers to the side of the optical fiber having the maximum winding angle.

CONSTITUTION: Optical fibers B1WBN pulled out individually from take-up drums A1WAN have successively wider winding angles to a rotating roll 1 and are inclined and deflected to the side of the optical fiber A1 having the maximum winding angle. Consequently, optical fibers B1WBN are deflected to the side of the optical fiber B1 on the rotating roll 1, and they are arranged in parallel without gaps and ruggedness. Housings of optical fibers are lightly melted by a heater 5 and are cooled by a cooler 6, and they are connected to one another to form a tape-shaped optical fiber 7. Thus, optical fibers are arranged in parallel smoothly without the frictional heat on the rotating roll 1.
