Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of an optical fiber by doubling and twisting plural pieces of metallic strands while providing spacings opened outward between the adjacent strands, then removing moisture by drying. CONSTITUTION:The circular central metallic strand 11 is disposed at the center and the outer-layer metallic strands 12... having a polygonal section are doubled and twisted around said strand in the form of opening the spacings l... between the strands 11, 12, 12 outward, by which a tension member M1 for the optical fiber cable is obtd. The tension member is thereafter dried. The spacings l...are opened outward by contact of the curved faces with planes or the planes with each other and allow easy air venting and, therefore, the moisture is removed nearly completely in this drying. The deterioration of the optical fiber is thereby prevented.
