Abstract:
PURPOSE: High-purity terephthalic acid is produced in high selectivity by oxidizing p-xylene and its oxidation reaction intermediates in the absence of lower fatty acids with molecular oxygen using a mixture of cobalt, manganese and yttrium compounds in a specific proportion as an oxidation catalyst.
