Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the resin composition excellent in impact resistance and rigidity, etc., by incorporating a specific resin with a specified amount of an organic solvent followed by kneading in a molten state using a specific kneader to limit the organic solvent content of the final composition to a specified level. CONSTITUTION:(A) A total of 100 pts.wt. of a resin composition comprising (1) 4-95wt.% of polyphenylene ether (pref. with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.25-0.4dl/g), (2) 4-95wt.% of a saturated polyester (pref. polyethylene terephthalate 2.0-3.5dl/g in intrinsic viscosity), (3) 0.5-40wt.% of an impact resistance improver (pref. an elastomer <=3500kg/m<2> in tensile modulus) and (4) 0.01-50wt.% of a compatibilizing agent (e.g. a hydroxyalkylated polyphenylene ether) is incorporated with (B) >=1.0 pt.wt. of an organic solvent (e.g. benzene) followed by kneading in a molten state using a kneader provided with a vent port and a vacuum device at the vent port with the vent port kept at reduced pressure, thus obtaining the objective composition <1.0wt.% in the component B content.
