Abstract:
PURPOSE: To safely produce high purity titanium boride powder having ≤10μm average particle diameter and uniform particle size distribution and to effectively utilize industrial waste which is supposed to be further increased in future in industry related to titanium.
CONSTITUTION: When metallic titanium is allowed to react with boron and/or a baron compd. to produce titanium boride, metallic titanium wetted with oil or water, e.g. scrap metallic titanium discharged at the time of polishing or machining a metallic titanium ingot or slab is used as the metallic titanium.
