PURPOSE: To easily and perfectly remove the coating layer formed on the side surface of a printing wire.
CONSTITUTION: The periphery of a wire matrix 21 formed of a material having large anti-breaking force is coated with a masking material to form a masking coating layer 22 and the coated wire matrix is cut into a preset length to expose the wire matrix 21 to the cut surfaces. At this time, a printing wire 11 wherein the side surface is coated with the masking material and the wire matrix 21 is exposed at both end surfaces thereof is obtained. Continuously, particles of a material having high abrasion resistance are applied to the cut surface to which the wire matrix 21 is exposed by flame spraying and fixed thereto by anchoring effect. The masking coating layer 22 is released to form the printing wire 11. Since the masking coating layer 22 is formed on the side surface of the printing wire 11, flame spraying energy is absorbed by the masking layer 22 and the fixing force of particles is reduced.
