Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce high purity zinc fluoride low in both of zinc oxides and metallic impurities.
SOLUTION: The high purity zinc fluoride low in impurities of transition metals and zinc oxides can be produced by using high purity zinc as a starting material, heating and agitating the high purity zinc in a high purity hydrofluoric acid solution, to which aqueous hydrogen peroxide is added, to precipitate hydrates of zinc fluoride and dehydrating/drying the hydrates. The dehydrating/ drying is preferably carried out at below 100°C in a vacuum drier with gaseous hydrogen fluoride, gaseous fluorine or mixed gas of the gaseous hydrogen fluoride and the gaseous fluorine of below 200°C.
