Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that avoids, when the temperature inside the projector increases, failure occurring due to excessive heating while maintaining display quality of a three-dimensional video.SOLUTION: A projector 500 includes: a discharge lamp 90 that emits light at the brightness according to an applied voltage as a light source for projecting a video; a temperature detection unit 590 that detects a change in temperature; a timing control unit 584 that controls to switch a video for a right eye and a video for a left eye according to the video alternately at a predetermined switching timing, so that a period held between the temporarily adjacent switching timings starts as a first period and ends as a second period; and a light source drive control unit 582 that controls an applied voltage in the second period to become higher than an applied voltage in the first period, and increases or decreases at least the applied voltage in the second period according to a change in temperature detected by the temperature detection unit 590.
