After the light emitted from the light source 1 is transmitted through a filter 4, it is efficiently condensed on a liquid crystal panel 2 by a condenser lens 6, and is radiated. The emitted light from the panel 2 is image display light, which is enlarged and projected to a screen 5 by a projection lens 3. The transparent bodies 10 and 11 consisting of a glass plate or plastic plate are arranged before and behind the panel 2 at fixed intervals. The transparent bodies 10 and 11 and the panel 2 are sealed by the spacers 12 and 13 and adhesive at the respective peripheral parts. Namely, the light incident surface and the light emitting surface of the panel 2 are intercepted from outside air and hermetically sealed. A light emitting side polarizing plate 15 is stuck to the light emitting surface of the panel 2, and an incident side polarizing plate 14 is stuck on the surface of the lens 6 arranged at a fixed distance apart from the transparent body 11.
