To make a ghost appearing on a screen inconspicuous by changing a condensing state at remaking of a luminous flux reflected by the lens surface of a projection lens incident on a DMD, when a ghost light beam emitted from a light source and directed in the pupil direction of the projection lens by being made to be successively reflect by the DMD, the lens surface of the projection lens and the DMD is caused.
The incident angle of reflected light from the lens surface at making it incident on the DMD 1 again is set to be within a range (the range of ≥ω and ≤3 ω, when ω is set as a DMD deflection angle) in which an absolute value is nearly equal to that of normal illuminating light, and a light beam which has opposite sign is set in a non-condensed state at a position at which it is made incident on the DMD 1, and even when the ghost light beam reaches the screen, its intensity is lowered and the ghost light beam is scattered over a wide range, so that the ghost light beam will not be substantially recognized or turned into an inconspicuous state.
