To provide a protector moving method for easily moving a protector for securing the safety of operation space in an underground cavity and to provide an easy-to-move protector.
A protector moving device 2 is disposed beneath a protector 1 and bolts and nuts which fix the columns 11 and wall girders 11a of the protector 1 together are removed; further, the wall girders 11a of the protector 1 are floated by use of the thrust means of the protector moving device 2 and then the movement means 21 of the protector moving device 2 is moved. Since wheels 13 are mounted inside the columns 11 with the lower ends of the wheels 13 situated below the lower ends of the columns 11, even if a centrifugal force is applied to the protector 1 when it passes through, e.g. a curved part, the protector 1 is supported on a floor 111 by means of the wheels 13 before losing balance, without interfering with the operation of the movement means 21, so that the speed of the protector 1 does not need to be reduced even while it passes through curved parts.
