PURPOSE: To enable to perform an operation to pull off a pile in both an elevating and a falling process of hydraulic jacks, by a method wherein, when a lower grasping part is raised through the functioning of the hydraulic jacks, an upper grasping part is lowered, and when the lowr grasping part is lowered, the upper grasping part is raised.

CONSTITUTION: Through the operation of a control cylinder for a lower grasping part 3, a head part of a sheet pile, driven into earth, is grasped. The upper end of the current pile is (a). With 4 hydraulic jacks 8 operated, right and left elevating rams 10 are raised to a position shown in a chain line to pull off the pile to a position (b). After the pile is released from grasping and the elevating ram 10 is lowered, the pile is grasped again and the elevating ram 10 is raised to pull off the pile to a position (c). An upper grasping part 19 at a position shown in a chain line grasps the pile, and the pile is pulled off through the lowering of the elevating ram 10 from a position shown in a chain line. The same is repeated in the following to pull off the pile in both processes of the elevating ram 10.
