Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make the amt. of blood filling in an extracorporeal blood circulation circuit and the amt. of hemolysis of blood accompanied with the extracorporeal circulation to be as small as possible by providing integrally an artificial lung having a gas-permeable hollow fiber bundle and a centrifugal pump with a specified structure.
CONSTITUTION: This centrifugal pump 1 being integrally formed with an artificial lung 16 prepd. by providing a gas-permeable hollow fiber bundle in a cylindrical casing 17 provides an impeller wherein a plurality of blades 14 are stood on a curved face of an approximately conical pedestal 4 from a position being apart by a definite distance d from the top of the pedestal 4 in approximately radial direction in a housing 1c and extrudes a blood which has been sucked from an inlet port 12 in a space 11 from an outlet port 13 by rotation of a motor of the impeller. This pedestal is formed in a circle the bottom face of which covers approximately the whole bottom face in the housing and which has a diameter of 30-55mm and each blade is constituted by a straight panel with an inlet angle of 20-50°. In addition, the ratio of the length L of the blade 14 to the height H is set to be 2.6-6.0.
