PURPOSE: To effectively and simply reduce the content of a copper compound in a purified product by thermally dissolving an organic compound containing the copper compound in an inert solvent in the presence of a cyclic organophosphorous compound and subsequently recrystallized to purify the organic compound.
CONSTITUTION: A bis(4-halogenophenyl) sulfone derivative of formula I (X is halogen; R1, R2 are halogen, lower alkyl, etc., m,n are 0-3) with ammonia or an organic amino compound of formula II (R3, R4 are H, alkyl, etc.) in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. cuprous chloride). The produced bis(4-aminophenyl) sulfone, bis(4-N-mono or disubstituted derivative of formula III is thermally dissolved in an inert solvent in the presence of a cyclic organophosphorous compound of formula IV (R1'-R8' are H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, aryl, etc.) and, if necessary, further active carbon or active china clay, filtered and recrystallized for purification.
