The putty spatula 1 comprises a flat blade 2 for applying putty and a handle 3 for holding the rear end 2b of the blade 2. The rear end 2b of the blade 2 is bent in the out-of-plane direction of the blade 2 and the handle 3 is mounted parallel to the bent rear end 2b of the blade 2. The handle 3 comprises a blade mounting part 31f or sandwiching and holding both sides of the bent rear end 2b of the blade 2, a grip part 33 provided crosswise for gripping by the five fingers and the palm of the user's dominant hand; and a connecting rod 32 for connecting the grip part 33 to the blade mounting part 31.
