NEW MATERIAL:The quinolizinone derivative of formula I {R1 is carboxy; R2 is H or halogen; R3 is A-R4 {A is lower alkylene; R4 is NH2, OH, arylthio, arylsulfinyl or NHSO2R5 [R5 is group of formula II (X is H, halogen, alkoxy, etc.; Y is H or halogen), dialkylamino, thienyl or quinolyl]} or group of formula III (Z is O or S; R7 is aryl)} and its salts.
EXAMPLE: 8-[2-(4-Chlorophenylsulfonylamino)ethyl]-4H-quinolizin-4-one-3-carbox ylic acid.
USE: Useful as a medicine for thrombosis. It has thromboxane A2 suppressing effect. It can be administered orally, parenterally or by external application.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. according to the reaction formula by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III in the presence of alkali metal alkoxide, etc.
