A radio communication apparatus includes: a D/A converter 12 for converting a transmission signal from a digital format to an analog format; an amplifier 14 for amplifying the transmission signal output from the D/A converter 12 and outputting it; an A/D converter 19 for converting the amplified transmission signal output from the amplifier 14 from an analog format to a digital format; a distortion compensation section 5 for distortion-compensating the amplified transmission signal; and a distorted band detection section 7 for detecting a band to be distortion-compensated in the amplified transmission signal. The sampling frequency of the D/A converter 12 and the A/D converter 19 is controlled in accordance with the band to be distortion-compensated which was detected by the distorted band detection section 7.
