The radio communication system is provided with a radio transmitter 100 and a radio receiver 200, and the radio transmitter 100 adds preamble signals comprising one first preamble signal and at least two second preamble signals before the data signals of the first frame of data to be transmitted and transmits them. The radio receiver 200 is provided with an antenna control part 256 for switching the control pattern of a reception antenna 210, a reception power measuring part 252 for measuring the reception power of the first preamble signal detected from the first frame of reception data, and a channel estimating part 254 for estimating channels in respectively different control patterns on the basis of each of the at least two second preamble signals detected from the first frame of the reception data. The antenna control part 256 switches the control pattern on the basis of the result of channel estimation.
