The radio communication unit holds the position information of the self-unit and can measure a distance to a radio communication unit of an opposite communication party with which communication is established. The radio communication unit includes a position reception means for receiving the position information of the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party based on the position information of the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party and the position information of the self-unit; a distance calculation means for calculating the distance to the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party; a distance measurement means for measuring the distance to the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party; a position decision means for deciding whether or not the position information of the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party is correct based on both the distance to the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party calculated by the distance calculation means and the distance to the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party measured by the distance measurement means; and a communication capability/incapability decision means for deciding the capability/incapability of communication with the radio communication unit of the opposite communication party based on the decision result from the position decision means.
