Title:
RADIO WAVE ABSORBING CHAFF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59160301
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form an absorbing and attenuating air space for a radar radio wave by forming a film of material which has radio wave absorption characteristics on the surface of a fine fiber wire of conductive or nonconductive material and constituting a radio wave absorbing chaff.

CONSTITUTION: Films of material having radio wave absorption characteristics are formed on the surfaces of extremely thin wires 1 and 2 of fibrous conductive or nonconductive material which are circularly and rectangularly sectioned or in a plate type section shape to constitute chaff, whose length is set to an integral multiple of the half of the wavelength of a radar wave, etc. When this radio wave chaff is dispensed in the specific air area at need, the radar radio wave is absorbed and attenuated by the radio wave absorbing chaff in the dispensation air area, so reflection in the desired direction of the dispensation air area is reduced greatly or eliminated completely. A target in this direction is prevented from being grasped by a radar device.
