The railroad crossing protection device is equipped with a transmission circuit 3 that drives a transmitter 3A by a timing signal S1 of a timing signal generation circuit 2 for sending a radar wave, a reception circuit 4 that generates a signal S5 that indicates the reflection wave reception of a receiver 4A, an obstacle judgment circuit 80 that judges the presence or absence of the obstacle in a monitoring region based on the reception circuit 4 and the timing signal S1, an operation confirmation circuit 10 that confirms whether a transmission/reception function is normal or not, and an AND circuit 6 that generates the output of a logic value 1 for indicating safety only when the obstacle judgment circuit 80 generates obstacle absence output and the operation confirmation circuit 10 generates operation normality conformation output.
