To solve such a problem that in a drive system of a railway rolling stock for supplying power from a generator driven by an engine and a battery, when a converter for converting an AC voltage of the generator to a DC voltage fails, the generator cannot supply power, thereby disabling continuous operation of the railway rolling stock.
In a normal operation of the drive system of the railway rolling stock, the electric power of the generator 2 is supplied via a first converter 4, and the electric power of the battery 7 is supplied via a second converter 10. When the first converter 4 fails, the electric power of the generator 2 is supplied via the second converter 10. As a result, when the first converter 4 fails, the electric power of the generator 2 can be supplied by using the second converter 10.
