Abstract:
To provide a reader configured to improve read performance by preventing incidence of the light that reflects on the inside of a reading window.SOLUTION: A reader for reading information which identifies a commodity includes an enclosure, an imaging unit, and a lighting unit. The enclosure includes a transparent reading window. The imaging unit is built in the enclosure to capture an image through the reading window. The lighting unit for illuminating a subject of the imaging unit by surface-emitting light toward the outside of the enclosure, is arranged outside an edge of the reading window, and inclined with respect to the reading window so that the side farther from the reading window protrudes from the reading window.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
