Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve stability in braking operation for turn by controlling rear wheel steering via the operation of the ideal steering angle of rear wheels for obtaining a cornering force to prevent rear wheel skid depending upon the strength of an operated turning force and the input of a brake force during the braking operation in turning maneuverability. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a liquid pressure sensor 1 for detecting the delivery pressure of a fluid from the power steering system of a front wheel steering device, a speed sensor 2 and a brake fluid pressure sensor 3 for detecting the pressure of a brake fluid at the time of braking operation. Each signal outputted from said sensors is inputted to a control unit 4 wherein the strength of a turning force or lateral acceleration working on an automobile body is obtained from the delivery pressure of the fluid and automobile speed, and concurrently the strength of brake input or deceleration working on the body is obtained from the brake fluid pressure. And an ideal rear wheel steering angle is computed depending upon the strength of the turning force and the brake input, and an actuator 6 for rear wheel steering is driven and controlled via drive circuit 5, according to the result of the computation.
