Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the steering stability without increasing the cost by connecting a rotary damper to an axle housing with an arm and a link to suppress and promote the compliance controlling force at the angles of these members.
CONSTITUTION: An axle housing 4 is connected to an automobile body 3 by an upper arm 6 and a lower arm 7 through rubber bushes 8-11, and a rotary damper 13 is connected to a bracket 14 of an axle housing 4 through an arm 15 and a link 16. The fitting angles of the arm 15 and the link 16 are set so that the arm 15 may be horizontal and the link 16 may be inclined forward paying attention to the progressivity of the damping force of the rotary damper 13 and the directionability of the resultant in the longitudinal direction. This constitution allows the rotational moment around an axle 5 to be applied in the canceling direction, and promotes the rotational moment by the force in the vertical direction with the rotational moment by the resultant in the longitudinal direction in the middle of the operation. Thus, the steerability and the steering stability of the automobile body can be improved.
