PURPOSE: To enable the reception and recording of a color picture signal in high speed, by driving a thermal recording head at the same time with black and red signals and making different the current value for the heat dissipating elements where the black and the red signals are supplied.

CONSTITUTION: An emitter of N sets of black signal driving transistors(TRs) B1∼ BN, the base of which is connected to N sets of outputs of a black signal shift register BSREG75, is connected to a voltage V1, and an emitter of N sets of red signal driving TRs R1∼RN the base of which is connected to N sets of outputs of a red signal shift register RSREG76 is kept at a voltage V2. When a picture signal is present at the output 1 of the register BSREG75 and the output 2 of the RSREG76, the TRs B1 and R2 are made conductive, and a more current flows to a red signal heat dissipating element R21 than the element R11 for black signal because of V1< V2. Further, a recording paper is used such as on which black color appears at low temperatures and red color appears at high temperatures.
