Abstract:
To make receiving sensitivity satisfactory by reducing thermal noise even if a PON system has a multi-rate.
Reception circuits 16 and 26 for multi-rate optical communication receive multi-rate optical signals and convert them into electric signals, and are provided with reception signal paths for amplifying the electric signals. The reception signal path is provided with a pass band width which can pass the highest data rate signal, and the pass band width is configured so as to be changeable, and when the data rate of the reception signal is lower than the highest data rate, the pass band width of the reception signal path is changed so as to become smaller than the pass band width which can pass the highest data rate signal.
