To accurately position a filter device at two moving ends by using a single photointerrupter in a color/monochrome switchable type camera where a reciprocating drive mechanism is connected to a filter device guided so as to reciprocate on a base.
This camera is equipped with a pair of stoppers 71b and 71c protrusively provided on the base, the photointerrupter disposed at a fixed position, and a shielding plate 94 protrusively provided on the base and entering space between the light-emitting part and the light receiving part of the photointerrupter. The plate 94 is interposed in the space between the light- emitting part and the light-receiving part, while the filter device 9 is moving, and comes out of the space between the light emitting part and the light receiving part immediately before the device 9 reaches the moving end. The operation of the reciprocating drive mechanism 100 is controlled, based on output from the photointerrupter and driving of the mechanism 100 is stopped, when a fixed time elapses after the output from the photointerrupter is switched while the device 9 is moving.
