Abstract:
To provide a recording device configured to eliminate the need for a confirmation of a positional relation between a pressing member and a sheet by a user.SOLUTION: A recording device 100 comprises: a platen that supports one surface of a sheet 1; a contact surface 501d which a side end 1a in a width direction of the sheet contacts; and a first extended part 501a positioned closer to the sheet 1 than the contact surface 501d and extended in a direction crossing a width direction of the sheet 1, which further has: a pressing member 501 that presses an edge part in the width direction of the sheet 1 supported on the platen, at the first extended part 501a; a carriage that can move in the width direction of the sheet 1 on the platen; a light sensor part, loaded on the carriage, which emits light to the platen side and detects returned light; and determining means that determines a positional relation between the pressing member 501 and the sheet 1, on the basis of output change of the light sensor part at the time when the light sensor part passes on the pressing member 501.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
