PURPOSE: To perform high speed printing with high sensitivity by providing a phase changeable recording layer reversibly generating a phase change between different crystal phases on a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A card is constituted by successively laminating a magnetic recording layer 21, the white layer 22 concealing the magnetic recording layer 21 a thermally and chemically stable dielectric protective layer 23, a phase changeable recording layer 24, a dielectric protective layer 25 and a org. protective layer 26 to a substrate. The phase changeable recording layer 24 is formed from a material capable of reversibly generating a phase change between different crystal phases and changed in its phase between different crystal phases by heating to perform thermal printing recording and erasure. In this case, since a hue is changed according to a phase and optical characteristics such as reflectivity and transmissivity are different, printed and recorded data can be visually confirmed and, further, this data can be erased.
