PURPOSE: To permit the observation of the maximum value of degree of gloss in the shape of opposing straightly to a recording material, the provision of prominent decorative property and the dynamic expression of color and color tone by a method wherein the maximum value of the degree of mirror gloss of a recording surface is within the specified range, in a recording material provided with an ink receiving layer on at least one side of a substrate.

CONSTITUTION: An ink jet recording medium, having an ink receiving layer on a substrate, is formed so as to have the maximum value of mirror gloss within the measuring angle of 20-60 degrees. Further, the same recording medium is formed preferably so that the degree of mirror gloss is 100% or more at the measuring angle of 20-75 degrees. Paper and the like is used for the substrate and a metallic film is provided on one side of the substrate while the ink receiving layer is provided on the same surface or the opposite surface of the metallic film. Respective 100% solid parts of yellow, magneta and cyanic color are provided and when the degree of mirror gloss of the solid part at the measuring angle of 20-70 degrees are measured, at least one solid part of cod-or is formed so as to have the maximum value of degree of mirror gloss within the range of measuring angle of 20-60 degrees.
