When the video image content is recorded on the hard disk 26, while the content is recorded at a bit rate (a constant bit rate) within the specifications of the DVD medium 15, a reference value indicative of numerousness of movement in a video image for data (Cell) of a predetermined unit constituting the video image content is computed, based on the properties that depend on the constant bit rate. The computed reference value is recorded on the hard disk 26 together with the video image content, as its attribute information.
