To provide a recording method and a reproducing method of a video disc capable of high speed searching regardless of the type of search images such as an I picture, a P picture and a B picture, in a video disc recording/reproducing device which performs high efficiency compression coding to a digital image signal and records and reproduces the signal on the video disc.
A sequence including multiple image information blocks (GOP) which mixedly comprise the I pictures and the P pictures and the B pictures in a unit are recorded on a video disc. A header address at the top of the sequence and an ID signal for identifying the video disc are also recorded on the video disc. The header address is the information for a user to select the image and access the top of the sequence including the selected image.
