PURPOSE: To provide a recording module circuit enhanced in reliability by an improved type recording module of low signal frequency, lowering production cost and power consumption quantity and dispensing with an independent line buffer memory.
CONSTITUTION: A recording module comprises a means controlling the gradation of a large number of linearly arranged LEDs and an LED operating time changes corresponding to recording gradation data of 2n level. A circuit consists of an N×n bit shift register having N n-bit memory addresses and N n-bit outputs and a first clock means controlling this register and also has a latch register 35 storing the content of the N n-bit memory addresses of the shift register and the latch register has N n-bit output buses. Further, the circuit has a modulation means establishing the relation between the operation periods of the respective LEDs and gradation data and a second clock means controlling the modulation means. All of the shift register 34, the latch register 35 and modulators 380-38N-1 are integrated on one semiconductor chip. The modulation means comprises N modulators 380-38N-1 alloted to the respective LEDs one by one.
