To suppress color fadability when preserved for a long period after printing by incorporating a sulfonic acid group or carboxylic acid group in a molecule and a salt or the like of an alkaline earth metal or group III element of an acid exhibiting a specific value of a pH of a 1 wt.% aqueous solution in an ink receiving layer provided on a base material.
In the recording sheet adapted to a recording medium for an ink jet printer and having an ink receiving layer provided on a base material, the receiving layer contains a sulfonic acid group or carboxylic acid in a molecule and a salt of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or group III element of an acid exhibiting 4 or less of a pH of a 1 wt.% aqueous solution. As the acid having the sulfonic acid group or carboxylic acid group in a molecule to form a fade inhibitor to be used and exhibiting 4 or less of the pH of the 1 wt.% aqueous solution, a 2-4C fatty acid, lactic acid, amidesulfuric acid or the like of an acetic acid is exemplified. Of them, the acid exhibiting 3 or less of the pH of the 1 wt.% aqueous solution is particularly preferred.
