PURPOSE: To reduce the temperature gradient on the gate body used for a large- sized sluice or the like due to the solar heat and the like by sprinkling water to cool a specified part of the gate body having higher temperatures by water sprinkling means provided on the gate.

CONSTITUTION: A gate body 1 has been formed into a box with a water contact surface 2, the upper surface 3 gently inclining at the rear of and above the water contact surface 2, and a backskin surface 4 extending downward from the upper surface 3. Blocks for opening, closing or holding the gate 1, not shown, are provided at both sides of the gate 1. A water supply pump 6 is placed at a proper position in the gate 1, and the water supplied from a water inlet 10 opened on the water contact surface 2 is sprinkled from sprinlking pipes 7 provided on the upper parts of the upper surface 3 and the backskin surface 4 to cool the gate surfaces.
