Title:
REDUCTION OF SULFUR DIOXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5626534
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce sulfur dioxide without blinding and with large opening ratio by a mehtod in which catalytic components are formed into a honeycomb or plate shape and gas is passed through the catalyst structures in parallel with the surfaces of the structures.

CONSTITUTION: In the reduction of sulfur dioxide in desulfurization process, the catalytic components, e.g., nickel, molybdenum, etc., are formed into the honeycomb or plate shape independently or on the surface of a base material to obtain a catalyst structure. A gas containing sulfur dioxide and a reductive gas are passed through the catalyst structures in parallel with the surfaces of the structures for reduction. Thus, the sulfur dioxide can be effectively reduced without blinding of the catalyst structures and with reactive layer sections of large opening ratio.
