To suppress the increase of a load in a refrigerator even when warm air enters a freezer compartment at the time of defrosting.
A refrigerator comprises a defrosting temperature detecting means 38, a thermistor for detecting a defrosting temperature, a defrosting judgement means 40, and a first temperature-in-refrigerator judgement means 41. After the judgement for termination of defrosting with the defrosting judgement means 40, when the temperature of a freezer compartment 6 is judged to be not lower than a set temperature by the first temperature-in-refrigerator judgement means 41, water supply is stopped until the freezer compartment temperature becomes not higher than the set temperature. Thus, during the course of the rise of the temperature in the freezer compartment 6 caused by defrosting, the load applied to the refrigerator does not increase, thereby suppressing the temperature rise from increasing.
