PURPOSE: To perfectly separate and regenerate cation exhange resins and anion exhange resins without making the resins after the regeneration a salt type by backwashing and separting both resins respectively in separate regeneration towers then regenerating these.
CONSTITUTION: The mixed ion exhange resins having been used are transferred into a cation regenerating tower 1, where they are backwashed and separated by backwash water 10. Water is flowed from a distributor 17 and air or water is flowed in from the top of the tower 1 to transfer part of the anion exhange resins 11, mixed resins 12, cation exchange resins 13 into an anion regenerating tower 5. the greater portions of the cation exchange resins 13 remained in the tower 1 are regenerated with acid and are transferred into a storage tank.The resins in the anion regeneration tower 5 are backwashed and separated and are then passed through alkaline regenerating agents 14. The regeneration waste liquid is discharge from the lower part of a collector 15 and the greater portions of the regenerated anion resins 11 in the upper part are transferred into a storage tank. The residual resins in the tower 5 are transferred into the empty regenerating tower 1, where they are mixed with the mixed ion exhange resins to be treated next.
