Title:
REINFORCING METHOD FOR CONNECTED PART OF OPTICAL FIBER CORE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5823008
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a reinforced part causing hardly the breaking of the core lines and a change in the transmission loss by holding the connected part of optical fiber cores, a heat meltable adhesive and an electric conductor in a heat shrinkable tube, carrying out induction heating to shrink the tube and to melt the adhesive, and solidifying the molten adhesive.

CONSTITUTION: A reinforcing member consists of a heat shrinkable tube 1 made of polyethylene, an inner heat meltable adhesive pipe 2 made of nylon and an inner metallic slender rod 4. Naked optical fibers 7 are melted and conncted, and the reinforcing member attached previously to the optical fiber cores 5 is moved so that it lies across the space between ends of the plastic coated layers 6c of the cores 5. Heat is generated from the rod 4 by induction heating to shrink the tube 1 and to melt the pipe 2, thereby uniting the tube 1 to the connected part. Thus, a reinforced part causing hardly the breaking of the core lines 5 and the transmission loss is obtd.
