To provide a remote controller capable of saving power and notifying the controlled apparatus about the switching status of a power feed switch to properly control a power supply of a remote control signal receiver and the controlled apparatus, without newly adding a signal line or without assigning a new code signal to the switching status by providing the power feed switch to be commonly used for power ON/OFF of the remote control signal receiver and the controlled apparatus.

A signal line 29 for transmitting a remote control signal from an IC 20 to a remote control signal detecting circuit 24 of a box 13 is also connected to a power ON/OFF detecting circuit 25 in the box 13. If a state where an input voltage level from the signal line 29 is higher than a threshold value continues for not less than a predetermined time, the detecting circuit 25 detects that the power feed switch 34 is at an ON-position. If a state where the input voltage level from the signal line 29 is lower than the threshold value continues for not less than a predetermined time, the detecting circuit 25 detects that the power feed switch 34 is at an OFF-position.
