PURPOSE: To improve safety much more by grasping the state of an elevator more completely to surely restore the state of the elevator to the original condition.

CONSTITUTION: When an elevator malfunctions, or is stopped by earthquake, monitoring cameras 5, 6, 8, 10 photograph the machine room and the internal and external state of a cage while they perform checking operations, and transmit an obtained image signal to a monitoring center 4, together with elevator operation data. The monitoring center 4 side grasps the state of the elevator based on the transmitted image signal and the operation data, and restores the elevator operation to the original condition by a remote restoration signal from the monitoring center 4 when no abnormalities are detected.
