PURPOSE: To provide a resin bonded grinding wheel which can prevent abnormal wear of resin binder phase in simultaneous grinding while maintaining high autogenous dressing action of the resin bonded grinding wheel and its manufacturing method.
CONSTITUTION: An abrasive particle layer 1 is composed of a resin binder phase 5 whose main component is thermosetting resin and combined abrasive particles 4 dispersed in the resin binder phase 5. The combined abrasive particle 4 is formed out of a single super-abrasive particle 2 or an aggregate of two ultra-abrasive particles 2 or more and a glass covered layer 3 formed on its outer periphery. The content of the glass covered layer 3 in the abrasive particle layer 1 is 5-60vol%, and the material of the glass covered layer 3 is preferably lead glass.
