To inhibit damages, etc. to a resin-coated layer even if it is subjected to an additional three-dimensional decoration imparting work when a resin-coated metal material with resin-coated layers overlying it is subjected to drawing work or drawing/ironing processes so as to make a resin-coated can.
When the resin-coated metal material is subjected to drawing work, or drawing/ironing processes so as for it to be shaped into a bottomed cylindrical prime can 10a, the molecular chains of the resin that form the resin-coated layer are drawn-oriented in the direction of the can's height for orientated-crystallization, after which the portion intended to be subjected to a three-dimensional decoration imparting work is heated to a temperature up to or more than the temperature at which the resin that forms the resin-coated layer starts to melt, so as to reduce the degree of drawn-orientation, and then, overhang parts 12 are formed on the wall surface of the can so as for concavo-convex shapes to be imparted thereto.
