Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To afford the subject textile structure with an excellent crease- proofness or shrink-proofness while retaining its practical mechanical strength, by liquid ammonia treatment followed by hot water or caustic alkali treatment of the textile structure and then by conducting a resin finishing using cellulose- reactive resin.
SOLUTION: A cellulose-based fiber-contg. textile structure such as a cotton plain fabric is subjected to liquid ammonia treatment to bring the cellulose III crystal structure content of the total crystal in the structure to ≥10wt.%, and then to impregnation treatment using hot water at 100-150°C or an aqueous alkaline solution 5-40wt.% in NaOH concentration at -10 to 90°C for 20-80s to effect transformation of the cellulose III crystal structure to cellulose I or II crystal structure followed by resin finishing of the resultant textile structure by the use of a cellulose-reactive N-methylol compound reactive to the hydroxyl groups in cellulose so as to effect crosslinking (e.g. dimethylolurea) or an aldehyde compound such as formaldehyde.
