PURPOSE: To facilitate confirming a retrieval screen and to eliminate dullness at a retrieval time by first displaying a final image of a reproduced video signal between reproducing screens with a stop screen, when a VISS function is used.

CONSTITUTION: An image memory part 60 converting the reproducing video signal from a video signal reproducing device 10, recording it and reading it out is constituted. The operation of the image memory part 60 of a motor control part 90 is controlled from an output of a VISS pulse delay part 80, delaying a VISS pulse for a fixed time. Further, by controlling the operation of an output selector 20, the output signals of the video signal reproducing device 10 and the image memory part 60 are applied selectively to a monitor 40.
