PURPOSE: To remove a slack from a web regardless of the feed direction of the web and to make no flaw in a web and prevent an error in retrieval by applying a brake to rotating shafts on a web take-up side and a web supply side after reversing the rotating shaft on the web supply side.

CONSTITUTION: A coincidence signal outputted by a comparison part 34 is sent to delay circuits 40 and 41 and then the 1st and the 2nd brake devices 20 and 21 are driven after delay times of the delay circuits 40 and 41 to stop a film. Thus, the rotating shaft of a film supply side cartridge 1 is reversed slightly, so the film F is tensed slightly and stops without slackening. A forward feed motor 18 is freed from its drive when the coincidence signal is sent and a take-up reel tends to keep on rotating because of the inertia of the forward feed motor 18 and a take-up shaft, but is stopped immediately by the brake device 21.
