PURPOSE: To provide a rocking type polishing device provided with a rocking mechanism capable of improving the extent of polishing efficiency, in this rocking type polishing device which rocks a container housing an abrasive material and a workpiece or the like for polishing.

CONSTITUTION: A driving motor 11, a cylindrical cam 15, a reciprocating traveling member 21 and a rocking lever 8 are used as a rocking-driving means of a container 5, and this container 5 is rocked almost in the whole rocking stroke excepting a spot in and around the rocking end almost at uniform velocity, thereby making large acceleration act on the container at the rocking end, and stirring and flowing actions to the material inside the container 5 are made so remarkably, thus yet higher polishing efficiency is obtained.
