Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a roll for rolling having a fine metallic structure and an outer shell layer excellent in homogeneity.
CONSTITUTION: An outer shell layer is formed of a cast steel material having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.8-2.0% C, 0.3-1.5% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.05% S, 0.5-2.0% Ni, 8-18% Cr, 0.5-5.0% Mo, and the balance essentially Fe. The matrix structure of the outer shell layer is formed so that the average size becomes ≤100μm in the range between the surface of the outer shell layer of product and the position at a depth of 50mm from the surface, and the relation in m2≤1.2m1 is satisfied when m1 and m2 represent the sizes of matrix structure at the surface of the outer shell layer of product and the position at a depth of 50mm from the surface, respectively. Further, the outer shell layer is formed by a centrifugal casting method while regulating the temp., at which a molten metal of outer shell layer is fed into a mold, to Tc≤T≤Tc+90°C (where Tc means the initial crystal forming temp. of the outer shell layer forming material) and also regulating the average lamination rate of the outer shell layer to (2 to 4)mm/min, by which the roll for rolling can be formed.
