Abstract:
To provide a roof box capable of realizing automatization from a fastening release operation to an opening/closing operation in any one of left and right sides of an openable/closable cover in a vehicle travel direction and guaranteeing safety during the opening/closing operation of the openable/closable cover and a vehicle travel operation, a roof box includes: a roof box body (12); lock mechanisms provided in both sides of the roof box body (12) to engage and fasten a storage portion (12a) and an openable/closable cover (12b); unfastening mechanisms (34a, 34b) installed in each of the lock mechanisms (24) provided in both sides of the roof box body (12) to release the engagement and fastening; opening/closing means (14a, 14b) configured to open or close the openable/closable cover (12b) with respect to any one of the lock mechanisms (24) when the engagement and fastening of the other lock mechanism (24) is released; a manipulation means (54) configured to transmit an opening/closing operation signal for selecting the lock mechanisms (24) for releasing the engagement and fastening and opening or closing the openable/closable cover (12b) using the opening/closing means (14a, 14b); and a control means (38) configured to receive the opening/closing operation signal from the manipulation means (54), output an engagement release signal to the selected lock mechanism (24), and output an opening/closing signal for releasing the openable/closable cover (12b) to the opening/closing means (14a, 14b) after the engagement is released.
